The New Data Protection and Privacy Framework - Facilitating international data flows

We live in increasingly networked societies, regardless of borders, where transfers of personal information between countries and markets plays a key role in the global economy. Therefore, the extent to which global data protection laws remain compatible with each other is crucial for data innovation, economical and societal benefits. This session will discuss the implications of the adoption of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement earlier this year for global businesses, and will debate the future of the ‘Adequacy Principle’ for third countries looking to demonstrate to the EU that they have appropriate safeguards for data protection. This discussion will be held in the context of ongoing global trade negotiations and following the vote of the UK to leave the EU earlier this year. ?
