Chris Connolly - LLB - Director

Chris is a director of Galexia, and provides specialist consulting services for, privacy and cyber projects.

Chris plays a lead role in many significant Galexia projects, including work for the United Nations. ASEAN, BSA | The Software Alliance, Digital Europe, AUSTRAC, AUSTROADS, Fidelity International, Department of Defence, Department of Immigration, Department of Health, Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN), the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) and the review and implementation of the proposed Credit Reporting Code of Conduct for the Australian Retail Credit Association.

Chris has advised Governments on the development of privacy, cyber-crime and electronic commerce laws in many counties, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

Chris has had over 18 years experience working on privacy issues and has been the lead author on several key Galexia papers concerning privacy and electronic commerce issues. These papers have included an analysis of Emerging Best Practice in Do Not Call registers (Sept 2009), a summary of Galexia findings on Privacy White Lists (June 2009), which was published in Privacy Law and Business International, detailed consideration of cross-border data transfers (especially the US Safe Harbor agreement and Binding Corporate Rules), the UN Convention on Electronic Contracting and crossover issues between privacy and cybersecurity. He is a key author of Galexia's global research on cloud computing regulation and cyber-security regulation.

Chris also held senior roles at the University of NSW where he lectured in the Masters of Law course for over a decade. He has held Chair / Board positions on several major charities.

Chris currently splits his time between Australia and Europe, where he assists Galexia clients in Brussels, Geneva and Strasbourg. He is based in the UK.
